Day 6 South Africa - Hermanus (+2 GMT)
22.02.2010
22 °C
Awoke at 5am for an early morning game drive. Our guide seems to have a cat fetish as he takes us on a route to see Lions, Tigers and Cheetahs. Ostrich, Baboons, Springbok and more Kudu are about, but this route didn't take us to the Elephants and Giraffes (the other group saw these). After breakfast at 9.30 we start the long drive South to Hermanus a town on the coast. As soon as we get to the mountains the weather becomes wet and cloudy, it is warm but the wind is cold. The drive was along the N2, the mountain roads from Barrydale probably had good views if it wasn't for the cloud. The N2 is straight with a 120kph speed limit though I went with the traffic flow and averaged about 140. (The little Chevrolet Spark was happy to get over 160 on one straight bit though I am not sure Jen was).
Hermanus is small but seemed OK, there was a market on in the centre, but it clearly thrives on it's whales (May-Nov) we checked into the Avalon on Sea B&B and mainly rested as we were both very tired.
